Indy Media, Noise TV and New Lost Sound System presents the Brunswick Summer Splash, an exciting line up of bands and DJs from across Australia and New Zealand.

Proceeds will go towards supporting the Abebech Gobena orphanage and school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Headlining the show is Mista Savona, who recently released the acclaimed album Melbourne Meets Kingston. Mista Savona will spin some of his favourite dancehall records direct from Jamaica.

Making the long haul east is WA’s New Lost City. A polit-rock reggae group combining guitar, bass and drums with samples and scratching, they have been described as ‘a modern day Clash’.

Joining them from Aotearoa will be veteran reggae, hip hop and dancehall producer - Art Official. Founder of the nation’s premier sound - Yardwise - Art Official has worked with the likes of Tuffy Culture and the Roots Foundation and will be making a rare appearance in Australia.

In and amongst the bands and DJs, a crew from Fitzroy’s Underbelly Dance Studio will be showcasing live afro-funk and dancehall styles. A special performance not to be missed!

Rounding out this impressive line up is African drumming group, Marabou, who will pound out organic tribal trance. Local DJ’s Binghi Fire, Red Belly and NukC will be spinning hip hop, reggae and dancehall records until late into the night.

The show has been organised by independent journalist and photographer, Ali MC, to raise awareness and funds for the Abebech Gobena orphanage and school which he visited in an investigative travel journey through eastern and central Africa in 2005.

Founded during the devastating famine of the 1980’s, the orphanage and school aims to provide education and skills training for the many disadvantaged people who live in one of Africa’s poorest nations.

Brunswick Summer Splash promises to be a show with great vibes, one love and a fantastic chance to assist the children of Ethiopia.
