Bubble Up are a fresh, live crew emerging out of the West Coast Roots n Culture centre of Raglan/Whaingaroa. Described as a funky, bass heavy, Soul-driven Hip-Hop Reggae fusion act, the group is comprised of Girzzly Smooth, and vocalists Jinja Jamboo and Crimson Pearl.
With then years of DJing experience, Grizzly Smooth is the backbone of Bubble Up, rollin out in fine deliverance his top-shelf selections and mixes of Reggae rhymes, digital Dancehall, Hip-Hop cross-overs and self-produced sound-collages. Known in his hometown as the man to slam it in a heavy fashion and boil up the dancefloor each and every time, the Grizz has his own unique style of rhythm drops and sound blends, keeping ears and minds stimulated to the fullest.
Bubble Up takes itself to the next leve with it's female MC/singer duo, a rare vocal combination heard coming out the Aotearoa Reggae movement.
The vocals are led forward by rhymestyler - Jinja Jamboo - who mixes up reggae, hip-hop, funk, soul and disco inspired flows in a conscious lyrical-rebel throwdown. Jinja has been an overground sensation for years, being one of the few female MCs rocking mics on the Wellington Hip-Hop scene from 2000-2004, and having achieved nationwide recognition in 2005-2006 for her spoken word performances.
Together with the soft and smooth melodies of soulful diva - Crimson Pearl - whose lyrics are loaded with aroha and wahine toa upliftment, these two set the stage on fire with top-ranking sound-sistah presence.
Bubble Up made their debut at the Soundsplash Eco-Reggae Festival this year to an unsuspecting audience and came away considered by those who bore witness, to be a rising talent to watch for.
