Mastadon Bites

20th June 2008 @ 11:45am

Mastadon Studios and NiceUp would like to invite producers from any area of the reggae world to submit audio bites, with one being featured on NiceUp every two weeks.

The idea is for artists to share pieces they are working on - recording techniques and demonstrations, showcasing a new album or releasing a teaser for a new mix - while also giving the NiceUp community a chance to comment and ask questions. Submission details are:

Format:  mp3 (if you do not have the ability to generate mp3 files, CDs can be mailed directly to Mastadon Studios and the Mastadon can prepare it.)

Length: 10-120sec. It is just a slice - a teaser, not a full-length recording (longer recordings may be submitted to the NiceUp Audio section)

Content:  Mixes, instrument recording techniques, riddim teasers, works in progress, CD  samplers, vocals samples, band recording promos - anything reggae-music related.  Please also include a small artist/producer bio and/or a bit of info about your sound bite.  Photos also welcome!

Comments: Comments and suggestions can be made by NiceUp readers generating useful debate for the producer and interest in the reggae community.

Copyright:  Submissions must be copyright-free (or you must take responsibility for it), as the slice will be downloadable by users of NiceUp.

Delivery: Please email all slices to mastadonstudios@gmail.com for submission. If you need to post a CD for conversion to mp3, please contact Mastadon at the above email address.

Posting:  We don't know how much interest there will be in this yet, but if the Mastadon is swamped with  submissions, they will all be posted in the order received. If for any reason they cannot be  posted, the Mastadon will email the sender to explain.

Slices will not be preferred/denied for quality, length, producer status or the like. Anything  extremely  objectionable or corrupted may be skipped.

Concept: This will surely change and evolve as the process gets going, and we see what kind of  monster we've created. Don't be surprised if details change (like slice length, posting duration,  etc.) Feedback on the concept will always be welcome.

This is the idea we plan to have running in a few weeks' time. If anyone has suggestions on to run tings better, or ideas to improve the concept, please say! Also it would be great to get an early indication on how much interest there is already - so please tell us!  Link us at: mastadonstudios@gmail.com
