Raggamuffin The Album Vol1 - EMI (2008)
This is a great album! One NZ group in particular has always made music that makes me feel good, with vocals and instruments that are very original and full of soul - once again - big up The Black Seeds - BO BO BO! They have two big tracks included on the album - Turn It Around and Cool Me Down. House of Shem represent with Keep Rising which brings a good vibe. It was my first time hearing this and it rocked. This CD is sure, if not pure fyah - a must have in your collection, with both international and local groups proving that they work hard and live to entertain.
While the CD has the tried and the tested, including The Wailers (nuff respect Aston 'Family Man' Barret), Arrested Development, Maxi Priest and UB40, it's good to be able listen to a full reggae compilation with a mixture of international music alongside some of the cream of Aotearoa talent (bless) without having to change or skip the tracks. Once again I would like to say Aotearoa reggae is on the rise - keep up the great work crew!
So if you are a hardcore or softcore reggae fan get this CD - it is good for easy listening and also good for introducing friends to reggae. Do you work/run a cafe? You need this! Taking a drive with family or friends - this CD is a must have. If you are having a party with a mixed crowd then play this CD - they'll all love it and so will you.
In other words - the songs and lyrics are so catchy, you can't help but feel good! What more can I say?
