Chezidek feat. Daddy U-Roy - Teach Them / Gappy Ranks - Heavy Load - Maximum Sound 7"
Producer Frenchie honed his production skills working alongside reggae legends such as Augustus Pablo, Horace Andy and Alton Ellis whilst at Fashion's "A Class" studio in Forest Hill, South London.
Encouraged by the likes of John McGillivary (Dub Vendor), Chris Lane (senior engineer), Gussie P and Mafia & Fluxy, he launched his own record label Maximum Sound, and now has a catalogue of highly successful releases behind him.
Maximum Sounds most recent release is the Rebellion riddim, a re-lick of one my favourite tunes, Burning Spear's killer Creation Rebel, although this release is more similar to the Johnny Clarke/Bunny Lee produced version.
My favourite cut is Chezidek and Daddy U Roy's Teach Them. Daddy U Roy opens things with 'I say love is all I bring.....his majesty give us the teachings...' and he shows he's still a class act.
Chezidek follows on with his sweet vocal style and it's all good and on the flip. Gappy Ranks's Heavy Load, continues the line of excellent vocals he has cut recently.

Aisha - Do You Know - Mellow Vibes 12"
Aisha hails from Wolverhampton, starting her works as a vocalist at the tender age of 8, she's toured extensively all over the world and voiced UK roots classics such as the Mad Professor's produced Creator or more recently King Sellasie i on Gussie P's Sip a Cup label to name just a few.
Her vocals are always conscious and honest, 'I never write a song without spiritually experiencing something that inspires me to write on a subject or feeling. As long as I can express myself and people can relate to what I'm expressing, I've done my work'. And on Do You Know she does exactly that.
The ruff and tuff heavy steppers riddim is credited as being produced by Aisha, Clive Brown and Murray Man, out of the Mellow Vibes studio and label. I wasn't able to locate background information about Clive Brown, but Murray Man from Birmingham has been involved in the sound system scene since the 80's. Murray Man now focuses more on heavy roots vocals and dubs and his tunes, whether he is involved as a producer or a vocalist, get regular play on the heaviest of UK sounds.
Both the vocal and thunderous dub on Do You Know do the business....and then some.
