Bristol stable 2Kings' forthcoming release enlists local dons Pinch and RSD (Rob Smith) to rework the Henry and Louis cut 'Love like a Diamond', featuring Prince Green, from their 2008 album 'Increments'.
Pinch's re-lick flips the vibe of the original into a sparse, deep, dangerous, leaden-deadweight stepping monster. Swapping sunshine for submarine sub-bass and melody for dread, the remix propels the past into a dark future.
Pinch's pedigree is unquestionable - a highly respected DJ, producer and label owner of the influential Tectonic record label - he's been knee-deep in the UK dubstep sound since the scene's inception. His knowledge and experience of sound system music ensures this tune will plumb the depths of even the toughest rig.
RSD turns in some quintessentially Bristol vibes on the B-side. His less introspective version features skittering breaks that elevate the riddim into a junglist garage work out. Plenty of sub on this cut too.
