Little Way Different - Errol Dunkley

Although this track was first cut in 1972 on the Sonia Pottinger-produced album Presenting Errol Dunkley, the most famous incarnation of Little Way Different is the version Dunkley recorded in 1978 with the godfather of British reggae, Dennis Bovell.

The combination of Bovell's delightfully crisp rockers riddim and Dunkley's haunting musings about the importance of being tolerant towards those who do their thing 'a little way different', is about as close as you can get to reggae perfection.

A unique feature of this track is the high-pitched noise that resonates at the start of every hook. Just what instrument is responsible for this noise, I have no idea, but it adds a quirky, hypnotic vibe that has Bovell's signature all over it.

If you can get your hands on the 12"  cut of Little Way Different, you'll also get a dub on the flip-side featuring Bovell on the mouth organ. Musicality at it's finest.

If you've not yet had the pleasure of hearing this track, you can grace your ears by checking it out on Youtube.
