Mungo's Hi Fi & Mr Williamz - Musically Mad

Album - Forward Ever, available on 12" vinyl

Just in time for summer, Glasgow based dub/reggae scientists Mungo's Hi Fi drop their much anticipated album titled 'Forward Ever', on their home grown 'Scotch Bonnet' imprint.

This new album is packed fresh with a slew of immensely large dub bass joints, chilled reggae skankers and dancehall bombs, which feature an impressive international line-up of reggae and dancehall MCS such as Soom T, Mr Williamz, Pupajim, Omar Perry and Kenny Knots to name a few.

Some of Mungo's biggest singles over the last two years have been included on the album, like 'Everyman Different', 'Scream' ('Bad From' Riddim), 'Gimme Gimme', and 'New York Boogie' as unique vocal versions. Though I'd have to say one of the biggest tunes on this album for me has to be 'Musically Mad' featuring Jamaican born UK dancehall MC, Mr Williamz.

This is an absolute shockout of a bassline steppers riddim with a top MC hook alongside, bringing big vibes for the musically insane. A real classic Mungo's Hi Fi production ethic is heard on this tune, with a mix of phat, precisely tuned analogue sounding 808 drums running on an effortlessly big swagga.

As an album 'Forward Ever' reaches a tight balance between home listening in the car and on the dancefloor, with some proper conscious lyrics in places  for the mind and soul. With the options of both CD and Vinyl releases, you know Scotch Bonnet don't mess around when it comes to proper bass music.
