(Hitbound 12")
I thought i would approach this track review differently from my last one. This is my 'desert island disc' track, a track that I could not live without. While the constant search for hidden tracks or 'next cut' tunes will always continue, there are some tracks that still sound as good today as they did the first time you heard it...this is one of them.
It isn't a rare tune at all, it was re-released by Greensleeves on a 12" as well as being on the Wailing Souls compilation that Pressure Sounds put out. Most roots men should have this in their collection, but even the most serious collectors can't turn their nose up at it.
Channel One recordings always had such a good sound, with every instrument sounding crisp, and the pounding riddims played by The Revolutionaries suit the vocal harmony groups, as the vocals don't sound crowded.
This tune has been perfectly released on a 12" with a nice version for any passing deejay or MC to come in on. There is no need for a crushing dub (nothing wrong with that!) as the riddim runs so well. It says something that the other side of this 12" ('War' with Ranking Trevor on deejay) hardly gets a listen as this tune is that good! I would go as far as to say, a roots anthem!
